Two years after both parties decided to work together, taxi.eu and eCab have started roaming operations. Taxi customers can now use their eCab app in Berlin or their taxi.eu app in Paris thanks to the sharing agreement between the two applications.
Starting today, the two founding UpTop partners have started ‘roaming’ services between each other’s apps. The taxi. eu app allows users to book 8.000 taxis in Paris, and the eCab app now works for Berlin’s 6.300 taxis. The full interoperability of both networks is envisaged for the near future. Together, they cover major cities in 13 European countries, Canada, India and Lebanon.
Sonila Metushi, who leads the work on UpTop said: “This initiative is highly welcomed and should set the tone for similar actions to be undertaken by other UpTop partners in the future. I look forward to the expansion of roaming across the entire UpTop network that now operates on all five continents.”
“Our partnership with Taxi Berlin is a very logical step in our expansion. Together, we have a fleet of 100 000 taxis, handpicked for their quality, spanning more than 10 countries and 100 cities!”, explains Laurent Kennel, CEO of eCab.
Hermann Waldner, taxi.eu’s CEO, is very optimistic: “This first real cooperation is going to reinforce the cohesion of the taxi industry in Europe. It brings Taxi Berlin and our app taxi. eu to a new dimension. Years of discussions and sharing of experiences with G7 are taking their full meaning with this operational cooperation. “
In a sector undergoing a tremendous transformation, industry leaders are initiating an unprecedented move towards digitalisation and consolidation. Taxis are adjusting their value proposition to offer more choice and an even better service to customers.
