On October 15, Richard Boyer, who since the 80’s has been a leading light in the Montreal and Canadian taxi-industry, died. Since the 1980’s Boyer worked for the Communauté Urbaine de Montreal, creating the Bureau du Taxi. As a regulator he worked tirelessly to restructure the Montreal taxi industry, especially creating extensive industry training and safety programmes. As a gifted and inspiring speaker and a warm-hearted regulator, he laid – with Michel Trudel at the Transport Ministry- the groundwork for the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR).
