Parisian anger directed at ‘VTC’
As a result of the large-scale demo in Paris on June 11, representatives of the taxi unions and associations were invited to discuss the problems surrounding the ‘VTC’ with representatives of the French prime-minister.
Taxi demonstrations earlier this year had led to a new study into the ‘VTC-problem’ by French deputy Thomas Thevenoud, who came up with new suggestions to improve regulation of the taxis and VTC in the future. But for the taxi industry these ‘corrections’ on the loosely regulated VTC didn’t go far enough. Thévenoud’s worst suggestion was a system of ‘Open Data’ so that everyone – in a system that would show availability and pricing – could use and track (anonimised) transport data for each app or operator.
