Three taxi associations in Amsterdam – TCS, AMS Taxi and STA – are working on a merger. If the deal comes through, the largest local radio circuit TCA (1.400 cabs) will have a competitor that is almost as large. Drivers confirm the three taxi associations are negotiating.
Youssef Amraoui, president of the ACK foundation (committed to the interests of the Amsterdam taxi drivers), says the merger is already arranged. Amraoui maintains close contact with the taxi companies. According to him AMS Taxi and STA will proceed with the name of TCS (Taxi Centrale Schiphol) with around 1.300 taxis. “It is a serious challenge for TCA, but at the same time that is still the most professional organisation of the city,” said Amraoui.
