London’s black cabs introduce split payment via Gett
Gett, the global app for on-demand transportation, is proud to announce you can now split your fare payment when riding in over 15,000 black cabs in the UK.
Since one person usually hails the cab, splitting cash payments can be awkward or put you out of pocket. No more worrying about ordering a cab for your friends, the fare splitting feature is not only useful and convenient for passengers, but also makes black cabs’ safe and fast service even more affordable.
During your trip, the new feature allows you to split your black cab fare equally between riders. The person who ordered the cab can invite other people to share the fare by tapping the ‘Split Payment’ option in the app. Those of you invited will be prompted to accept the split payment and the users who don’t have the Gett app on their phone will be prompted to download it first.
This feature allows you to split your payment with up to 6 people, the maximum number of people who can ride in a Gett Taxi XL. Split payments roll out immediately to all Gett users, who have access to half of London’s black cabs after Gett’s bid to acquire Radio Taxis earlier this month, and over 15,000 cabs in the UK.
Remo Gerber, Gett’s MD of Western Europe says, “We are very excited about this update. Users across the UK will now be able to split payments with their fellow travellers and we are thrilled to continue to make the premium service of black cabs even more affordable and convenient.”
