Since the beginning of November, German taxi drivers need to buckle up during a trip with customers. This exception to German traffic law was created in the ‘70’s because of a large number of very aggressive attacks on taxi drivers during taxi trips. Nowadays the danger to traffic safety is higher than to the driver’s personal safety, especially as this spate of taxi robberies has long since died down. This is partly due to better security awareness and adequate measures in this area.
• This Berlin driver will now be buckling up.
